Vertical farms are a perfect solution in the world where we have more people to feed and less land to produce food. The biggest vertical farm is under construction in Newark (New Jersey), and it will provide approximately 2 million of leafy greens per a year.
According to the Gizmodo reports, AeroFarms is currently building a massive 70,000-square-foot farm in New Jersey, in an old steel mill. Miria from Japan made 25,000-square-feet vertical farm which used to be the largest vertical farm in the world, harvesting 10,000 heads of fresh lettuce every day. Miria’s primary focus is leafy produce since fast-growing vegetables can be sent to market quickly and therefore are the most economical solution for vertical farms. According to the company, vertical farms can be adapted to any plant.
