Yes that’s right you don´t even have to head to the range to sort out your golf game, you can do it right from your living room, in fact you can even do it watching TV.
We have five great tips to improve your game without ever setting foot outdoors.
TIP 1 – Change your putting grip
We believe that the majority of amateur golfers would benefit from using the reverse grip when putting. (Left hand below the right). Why? Because it will immediately give you a better shoulder plane from which you can “rock” your shoulders from the neck.
How can you learn a new grip at home, well sitting right in front of the TV without even “concentrating” directly on the new grip.
Sit down in front of your favourite TV series and simply place your hands on the putter in your new grip style and simply sit there with the putter in your hands. It will soon begin to feel very natural and when you head on to our next tip you will see an immediate improvement.
TIP 2 – Practice putting on the carpet
Using your new grip, putt balls towards the skirting board to improve your distance control. Why towards the skirting board and not a putting machine? Simple, you start to engage all your feedback channels and this immediately increases your learning power.
Practicing on the carpet also has another benefit, the carpet is smooth and will quickly show up any errors in your alignment, clubface angle at impact or swing path.
Another great practice drill on the carpet is to putt over a penny. Place it down anywhere on the carpet and you will quickly see how your alignment improves. When on the course, you will also notice how much larger the hole seems, great for a confidence boost.
